Looking at kitchenwares can be fun; I love trying out new coffee contraptions in search of the perfect cup of coffee or adding to my supply of British tea towels. The best part of all, though, is coming across one of those crazy kitchen gadgets that you could never fathom a need for. How many times have you been standing at the kitchen counter cutting kiwi after kiwi and had to stop in order to wipe the sweat off your brow, sighing by the challenging process. That darn kiwi! If only that thick peel would slice itself! Enter the kiwi slicer and bam! Problem solved. Then, the next morning, you’re sleepy, the rooster was crowing all morning, and you just want your bowl of cereal already. You know you should add some fiber, but it’s such a hassle to slice a banana on top before the corn flakes get soggy. If only you had a banana slicer to speed up the process. And don’t get me started on roasted vegetables! How boring can those get? Night after night of roasted potatoes sure is tedious. After wracking my brain for creative ways to become inspired by my food again, I realized the only solution was to begin carving my vegetables into interesting patterns. Enter the spiralizer. I mean think about it, why should food bore us? We need entertainment, people! Let’s get blown away by the sight of our boiling water in the kettle, stop yawning at the lackluster shapes of our chocolates, and never stare at a lame old ice cube shape again.
Here are a few eclectic kitchen items that I find hilariously unnecessary. Or perhaps, like my glass milk carton, they’re the very product you’ve been dreaming of for years.
