Whenever I notice the first signs of autumn, I think of the quote from the movie You've Got Mail. For those of you who haven’t seen it, the movie is a classic romantic comedy set in New York City where boy (Tom Hanks) meets girl (Meg Ryan) and they fall in love. That the characters meet anonymously online is what sets this movie 90s movie apart. That detail allows the audience to swoon (and occasionally cringe) as Tom and Meg continue to cross paths in their real life while also falling in love through their email conversations. The quote above is written by Tom in one of his first email conversations with Meg. Personally, I think this quote captures the excitement often associated with the fall season and school supplies, shared by the young and old alike.
New office supplies, especially quality notebooks and pens, seem to hold a magical quality that inspires us to be more productive. Whether it’s the start of a new school year or another week at your office, Claire and I thought it would be fun to share a few of our favorite trusty supplies to help give your work a clean slate. - Nicole
For notebooks, we turn to Rhodia, Miquelrius, and the Decomposition line by Michael Roger year after year. Each brand has high quality paper that won’t let our handwriting smudge (a serious hazard for lefties like us).
Rhodia notebooks are lightweight and the classic orange and black styles have been around since 1934 (decidedly longer than Orange is the New Black has been on Netflix). Nicole bought them in bulk to use throughout the semester.
Moving on to pens, Claire’s top three picks are the Uni Ball Onyx rollerball for academic writing, Marvy’s Le Pen for day to day, and the classic Sakura Pigma Micron for art projects (namely hand drawing maps).
P.S. For another 90s Meg Ryan/Tom Hanks classic, set on the real left coast this time, Sleepless in Seattle is a great one!
