We recently realized we've never shared the full story on how we first met. Here it is, plus some funny photos...
Back in August 2014, I (Nicole) was running a bit late for my first college class, having gotten lost in the building. When I finally found the correct classroom, everyone had begun working on a personal bio assignment exposing our religious beliefs, ethnicity, goals, and family life, etc. that was to be shared with the class. This seemed like a rather revealing introduction for the first day of college and I was a little confused on how personal this bio should be. So I peered over the shoulder of the woman in front of me (Claire), and copied down the answers to the Q&A that were relevant to me. (Yep, that’s right. Not only was I late but I also cheated on the first day of college.)
The professor then instructed us to share with a partner and memorize our partner’s responses in order to introduce them to the class. Naturally, having copied Claire’s answers, I choose her as my partner. Five seconds into the presentation, Claire forgot where I was adopted from and we were immediately disciplined for asking clarifying questions. In addition to getting to know one another, apparently the hidden purpose of the assignment had been to send us the message that “you don’t get to choose how you’re presented to the world,” according to the professor. After the class was over, we walked back to our dorms together, laughing at the awkwardness of the assignment, and have been since sharing countless memories from our childhoods and making new ones together on our various adventures. Today, we can proubably relay every detail (big and small) about one another, and no professor could argue with us on that.
P.S. We've also updated our About and Contact pages. There, you can read how the blog came to be, plus a funny Q & A with both of us.
