As we’ve written before, fresh flowers are beautiful and calming but they can add up in cost fast. Still, it can be tempting to pick out a stem or three at the grocery store (always an odd number, says my mom) in the hopes of cheering up a room.
Happily, branches of eucalyptus recently caught my attention as an alternative. Available at Trader Joe’s and less expensive than freshly cut flowers or a new houseplant, eucalyptus brings a similar element of life and greenery to a space. It’s also long-lasting, lightly fragrant, and looks nice even when dried. Another fun thing I realized while brainstorming ideas is that eucalyptus has so many more uses than I ever could have imagined!
Here are a few things to do with eucalyptus in nearly every room of the house, including simple bouquets, an aromatherapeutic shower, garlands, and a chandelier:

In a bedroom you could hang up dried flowers or a garland over your bed, preserve leaves in a glass frame, or place an arrangement on your nightstand to enjoy while you fall asleep...
In the bathroom you could tie a dried bouquet to make for a fragrant shower or a put few stems in a vase by the sink...
To add some greenery to a hallway, you could make a simple wreath or wrap a few branches around a hanger or mirror...
What do you like to do with eucalyptus? And do you like its scent? Some say it can veer a little medicinal but I think it smells clean and relaxing.
