I’m all for reducing my carbonfootprint by bicycling whenever possible, but let’s be real here: some Seattle hills are no joke. Magn olia, here’s to looking at you from a safe distance far, far away (said Shrek style, natch).
So, I loved reading this article about a genius idea they had in Amsterdam: folks hitching a ride on the back of someone else’s bicycle. Technically it’s supposed to be utilized by tourists as a free mode of transportation around the city, in addition to being a way for locals, in turn, to welcome said visitors. But, between you and me, I think this could be the new environmentally-friendly (free!) Uber-equivalent.
What do you think? Is this idea so crazy it could actually work? Do you bike where you live?
P.S. If you’re interested in reading other Dutch bike and commuting-related posts elsewhere on the blogosphere, try: a post on bike culture in the Netherlands, and an awesome video on the bicycle rush hour.
